Fire Safety
- Be sure your address is visible from the street at all times day/night.
- Have 911 stickers on ALL your phones in the house.
- Practice home fire exit drills with all family members and have two ways out.
- Mount Fire Extinguisher in kitchen and visible.
- Install Smoke Detectors- at least one on every floor and in the bedrooms and be sure to change the batteries at least once a year.
- Store gasoline only in approved containers and not in the house.
- Do not overload electrical outlets or run cords under carpets.
- Be sure electric panel is clearly identified and accessible.
- Keep combustible materials away from hot water heaters and furnace.
- Don't leave cooking unattended. It is a leading cause of fires in the home.
General Safety
- Install a carbon monoxide detector in a location near bedrooms.
- Install child safety caps for electrical outlets.
- Keep chemicals, cleaning supplies and medicines locked up or out of reach of small children.
- Keep lighters and matches away from children.
Personal Safety
- Cool any burn with water only.
- Wear a seatbelt in car at all times.
- Lock up guns and keep away from children.
- Use bicycle safety helmets with bikes and rollerblades.
